Whetu Art

                                               Art
This week on Thursday we did our art. We got to choose a group 1 out of Four. There were clues to what art we were doing it was all the same but still different I know that sounds confusing but don't worry I'll tell you a little bit later on.The clue to the first group was an old favourite group from last year. The year six's knew what she meant but not the year fives. The clue to the second group was the islands and the pacific ocean. The third clue was last terms art. We all knew what that meant. And the the lucky last groups clue was happy in the winter. The group I chose was the happy in the winter group I choose was happy in the winter group I chose that group because I thought it was going be a happy snowman but it wasn't.
it was flowers. Our art group teacher (Mrs M) wanted the flowers to be not to pretty be cause we were doing lino. Lino is when you get a piece of line and cut it out with a special carving tool. You have to be careful because it might go through your finger. Seriously it already happened but a few years ago. But first we had to draw a picture.

Atrocious ANZAC day

Ladies in the war of Gallipoli

When the War of Gallipoli was on there was only one official job for women. Their job was to be a nurse. Many women went to help in the war. About 550 came to help. To get the men back from the war to the hospital they had to travel by boat. Two of the boats were called Marama and Maheno some of the illnesses they had to deal with were Frostbite. Frostbite is when a part of your body gets really cold like your hands and to stop the Frostbite from reaching to your heart the had to chop of the part of you that has the Frostbite. Shell Shock was another illness. Shell shock causes Nightmares, when people cant sleep, tremble, or couldn't talk and get confused. Mustard gas. Mustard gas affects your breathing, gives you a Blistered throat and gives you burnt/swollen eyes.
